Live Undead is the first live album by American thrash metal band Slayer. It was released through Metal Blade Records and recorded in New York City in front of a room of people The album begins with an extended introduction of "Black Magic", followed by a small speech. The remaining tracks include both those of 1983's Show No Mercy and 1984's Haunting the Chapel.


Following Slayer's immensely successful 1983 debut Show No Mercy, fans and record label heads alike were hungry for more product from the brilliantly demented speed metal unit. Live Undead/Haunting the Chapel collects two stopgap releases from 1984 as Slayer quickly developed their style but offered their growing audiences some new sounds to chew on in the meantime. The brief Live Undead EP features seven songs of mostly Show No Mercy material recorded at a gig in New York, while Haunting the Chapel offers up four songs recorded quickly at a Hollywood studio. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
